[Lucy Mack Smith] Samuel Smith leaves a Book of Mormon with Rhoda Young Greene, wife of minister John P. Greene and sister of Brigham Young. (2)

[Lucy Mack Smith] Joseph Jr. and Oliver Cowdery return to Colesville to complete the confirmations but have to flee from a mob through an exhausting and frightening night in the woods. Some scholars identify the next morning as the time they received the Melchizedek priesthood from Peter, James, and John. (2)

[Joseph Smith] Harmony, Pennsylvania. Joseph Smith received Doctrine & Covenants 24, a revelation relating to his and Oliver Cowderys callings. (3)

[Revelations] Harmony, Pennsylvania. Doctrine and Covenants 24. Joseph to write, preach. Delivered from Satan. Stop sinning. Lord will curse those who don't accept Joseph. Calling to write, preach. Spontaneous inspiration. Full-time church service. Not physical labors. Oliver to continue preaching , promised unprecedented strength. Don't require miracles except as commanded. Curse enemies, dust feet against them. Legal opponents to be cursed. Church to support financially.

[Revelations] Harmony, Pennsylvania. Doctrine and Covenants 25. Emma an elect lady. Don't murmur, but comfort Joseph. Be his scribe so Oliver can go where the Lord wants. Joseph to ordain Emma to expound scriptures and exhort the church. Select hymns for the church. Beware of pride, delight in Joseph. Keep the commandments.

[Revelations] Harmony, Pennsylvania. Doctrine and Covenants 26. Joseph Smith, Oliver Cowdery, and John Whitmer are to study the scriptures, preach, confirm members at Colesville, and farm as needed until the next conference. Church to be managed by common consent, prayer, and faith.

[Joseph Smith] Harmony, Pennsylvania. Joseph Smith received Doctrine & Covenants 26, a revelation regarding scripture study and common consent. (3)

Joseph Smith Jr. becomes aware of Hiram Page and his use of a seerstone. However, he waits until the scheduled church conference in September to bring up the issue. (5)

[Lucy Mack Smith] Oliver Cowdery at the Whitmer home in Fayette commands Joseph Jr. to change D&C 20:37; Joseph persuades the members that he is right. (2)

[Joseph Smith] Harmony, Pennsylvania. Joseph Smith received Doctrine & Covenants 27, a revelation concerning the sacrament: It mattereth not what ye shall eat or what ye shall drink when ye partake of the sacrament, if it so be that ye do it with an eye single to my glory." (3)

[Lucy Mack Smith] Joseph Sr. appears before Justice Nathan Pierce representing Hyrum, who is charged with an outstanding debt by Levi Daggett. (2)

[Joseph Smith] Harmony, Pennsylvania. Joseph Smith obtained the title of ownership to property in Harmony from his father-in-law, Isaac Hale. (3)

[Lucy Mack Smith] Joseph Sr. and Don Carlos visit Joseph Sr.'s relatives in Potsdam and Stockholm, New York, for a week, taking Joseph's father Asael Sr. a copy of the Book of Mormon. (2)

-- 31 Aug. 1830
[Lucy Mack Smith] Hyrum arrives in Fayette, bringing with him Parley P. Pratt, who has been converted by a borrowed Book of Mormon. (2)

First missionaries called to preach to the Lamanites (6)

Immediately following the conference, Thomas B. Marsh is called to preach (D&C 31). (5)

Joseph Smith Jr. reports a revelation concerning Hiram Page, who claims to have a stone that allowed him to receive revelation for the church. Joseph's revelation asserts that only he was allowed to receive revelation for the church, and that Hiram Page was deceived by the devil (D&C 28). (5)

-- 1830, September
[Joseph Smith] Moves from Harmony, Pennsylvania, to Fayette, New York. Between December 1827 and this time, Joseph and Emma lived in Harmony, but Joseph traveled periodically to Manchester, Fayette, and Palmyra to work on matters pertaining to the Book of Mormon translation, arrange for the publication of the Book of Mormon, organize the Church, preside over the Churchs first conference, and attend to other Church duties. (7)

[Joseph Smith] Receives a revelation that missionaries are to go unto the Lamanites to preach the gospel (D&C 28:8; see also 30:5-6; 32:1-3). In October, four elders depart on a mission to teach in Indian territory west of the state of Missouri. (7)
