For the first time in the history of the Church, two temples, both in Canada, were dedicated on the same day. The Halifax Nova Scotia Temple was dedicated by President Hinckley and the Regina Saskatchewan Temple was dedicated by President Boyd K. Packer, acting president of the Quorum of the Twelve. (5)

Craig D. Jessop was appointed by the First Presidency as "Music Director of the Mormon Tablernacle Choir" on this day in 1999. Craig Jessop took the place of Jerold D. Ottley, who previously lead the Choir for twenty five years. (6)
