All of the First Presidency, Francis M. Lyman, Myself, Rudger Clawson, Reed Smoot, Hyrum M. Smith, George [Albert] Smith and Patriarch John Smith, Secretary George T. Gibbs met at the Temple. All routine business was gone through with Prayer by Rudger Clawson. Mouth at the Altar George Albert Smith. It was dedided to try and lessen the collections of Contributions from the Saints.

I went to Provo to my Mother's birthday su[r]prise party. She was 77 years old today. 40 old and young ladies were present. Among the 15 widows the oldest of whom was Mrs. Riggs 88 years. My wives and I returned home. (2)

Rachael Grant, Edna K. Smith, Joseph Christianssen, Mary Jane Davis, George M. Cannon, Calvin C. Smith, Henry W. Nesbit and C. W. Penrose bore Testamony and spoke. (2)

At 4 p.m. the Funeral of my sister Emma Pearl Smith took place at her mothers home. Bp. Walter J. Beatty presiding. Prayer by Prest. Ben E. Rich. Jesse N. Smith, W. J. Beatty, Francis M. Lyman and Joseph F. Smith were the speakers. Benediction by Silas S. Smith. At the grave we had singing and George Albert Smith Dedicated the grave. Peace to the ashes of my invalid sister, and all respect and honor to her Mother Susan E. Smith who was most devoted to her in her sufferings of 34 years. (2)

I attended Directors [meetings] of the Idaho Sugar Co. and the Independent Telephone Co. I received a letter from my Wife Sarah Farr [mother]. She is not well and is undergoing treatment for her face that has some kind of a breaking out on it.

I wrote to her and sought to comfort her. (2)

At 9 a.m. all of the First Presidency and Francis M. Lyman, Myself, Rudger Clawson, Reed Smoot, Hyrum M. Smith, George Albert Smith, Charles W. Penrose, Patriarch John Smith and Secretary George F. Gibbs, Franklin S. Richards and Brigham H. Roberts met in the Temple and heard reports and some statements by Bro. Roberts on his finding in some Papers [he] had been examining.

At 3 p.m. all of the Presidency and the Apostles at home met in the office of the Presidency and after much talk agreed that every fellow should take his own course politically. (2)
