[Apostle Wilford Woodruff Journal] 6 April The General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of L. D. S. met in the New Tabernacle at 10 oclok. Was Called to order By Presidet Young. G A Smith opened By Prayer then spoke to the people 12 Minuts. G Q. Cannon spoke 55 minuts. E.T. Benson spoke 25 Minuts. Afternoon. Prayer By J F Smith. F D. Richards spoke 30. G Q Cannon Presented the report of the Zions Cooperative Merchantile Associations, Also the Female Relief society Association. The list of the Missionaries was then read & Excepted. Presidet Young then spoke 27 minuts. (4)

President Brigham Young dedicates the first Zion's Cooperative Mercantile Institution (ZCMI) store in Salt Lake City, Utah. More than 150 retail cooperatives are later established in LDS settlements throughout the Intermountain West. (5)
